In Western cultures, brides are typically the center of attention at weddings. They wear a beautiful white gown, while the groom comes donned in a classic suit or tux. There’s some room for expression with shoes, custom cuff links, a colorful tie, etc.—but for the most part, the groom is fairly muted in comparison to the bride.
In a traditional Indian wedding celebration though, the groom’s attire is just as fanciful as the bride herself—and I absolutely LOVE that! The intricate stitching and details in Pratik’s sherwani were SO sophisticated and absolutely beyond exquisite. The gold threads flawlessly complimented the opulent coral fabric with perfection. In a word, it was simply stunning.
That’s not to discount the beauty in the bride’s clothing though! Isha’s striking deep red lehenga was equally remarkable with the same golden threads and sophisticated detail. These complimentary outfits were certainly show stoppers and I was honored to have the chance to capture their beauty—in fact, I may have done a whole mini shoot around the sweet couple’s attire!
While we started by documenting Isha and Pratik’s stunning wedding attire from three years ago, the rest of the session was focused on the sweet couple and their love for one another. Isha and Pratik met during childhood. They grew up in the same town in India and even attended grade school together! Years later, the two reconnected and travelled back to get married in a big traditional Indian wedding, surrounded by all their friends and family.
Today, the lovely couple lives in Houston and will be celebrating their three year anniversary this coming Friday! I was so very delighted to capture their love for one another and document such beautiful memorabilia from their wedding day.
