Victoria and I became friends in a pretty unique way. Back in eighth (or ninth?) grade, we both wanted to go to a Taking Back Sunday/Blink 182 concert but had no one to go with. And neither of our parents would let us go alone… shocking! So we decided we that we had to become friends and that was that. We lived about a mile apart and this was the beginning of yearsss of laying around listening to music, planning our next concert, and dissecting every. single. lyric. Most weekends consisted of sitting in one of our bedrooms talking about boys, jamming out to emo music, and most likely included a visit to Taco Cabana. Do you remember the Paint program on old Windows computers? We’d make colorful “paintings” with lyrics and inside jokes all the time. Yeah, we were that cool.
Pedro was most likely one of those boys we talked about! We all went to the same high school and hung out together. From poker games at my parents’ house to watching him and his friends’ soccer games, we had a fun group that mostly stayed out of trouble. Victoria had a crush on Pedro for a while and I distinctly remember when they started dating—I ran into her in the hallway and she nervously and very excitedly told me that he’d asked her to be his girlfriend. From then on, they were the perfect couple and pretty much inseparable!
Last week, I blogged about another good friend and mentioned that I had TWO pregnant bridesmaid’s in my wedding…. well Victoria was the second one! Pedro and Victoria started their family in 2015 with their adorable daughter Mila. In 2017 they had TWINS. Talk about a handful!
Meanwhile, this might be a more accurate depiction of every day life…
