And welcome to my first ever blog post! My name’s Jessica and I’m here to share stories of love and laughter. I’m a portrait and lifestyle photographer based in Southeast Texas who just happens to turn 30 years old today … when the heck did I become a full grown adult?!
In honor of the occasion, let’s crack open a bottle of wine and celebrate—because I figured today’s as good a day as any to set aside my nerves and start sharing what I’ve been working on!
A little over a year ago I took a giant leap into the dark depths of the unknown and started my own photography business! To say it was terrifying would be an understatement. Seriously. You know that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you have to make a presentation you’re not ready for? Well I’m a *bit* of an over-researcher and perfectionist, so it’s safe to say that I spent wayyyy too much time planning and not quite enough time doing … so I never really felt ready. Plus, there are SO many amazing photographers out there that I couldn’t stop playing the comparison game long enough to acknowledge that I was more than capable.
Once I got past the initial terror and got to work, things took off in the best of ways!
Before I go any further, it wouldn’t be fair to share my story without a huge thanks to my incredibly supportive husband, Nelson. Without him, I can guarantee I wouldn’t have had the confidence to put myself out there and follow my dreams. He’s been such an encourager and always has the most positive words when all I want to do is give up … sometimes he’s a little too positive and a bit unrealistic—but hey, it’s nice to always have someone cheering you on, right?!
It doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes and and a pretty darn talented musician…
Shoutout to Anna Vlasiuk Photography for the photo on the left! If you’re ever in Sicily, check her out!
Each week I’ll post a glimpse into my most recent work … sprinkled in with some personal adventures, of course! Head’s up—I am not the most social media savvy and might forget every now and then. Sorry in advance! But I can’t justify keeping all my client’s inspiring stories to myself. They deserve to be showcased and celebrated!
If you’re still reading, THANK YOU! It’s seriously scary and weird writing about yourself because … like, who is interested in that? But I couldn’t start a blog without introducing the strange person behind the scenes, so here we are.
In the spirit of trying to be more of an open book, I wrote a little bio on my website—head over to my about section to check it out.
And don’t forget to keep an eye out for my next post!
Ciao for now,
<3 Jessica Lucile
Good start, Jessica! Keep it up. It would be very hard for me to post something weekly; I migh5 be able to manage a sentence or two yearly…
Love, Dan
Thanks, Dan! I’m hoping that I can follow through with the weekly blog, but we’ll see! 🙂
Congratulations on your new Business! I am sooooo excited for you!! Anxious to hear more about it as you go forward. Love You ❤️ Tena
❤️Thank you so much Tena!!
Fantastique! I love France like you love Italy. Of course, I haven’t been to Italy…yet. Great opening; you’re a talented writer as well as photographer. I see a book in your future.
Thanks Kathie! France is beautiful! You will HAVE to go to Italy one day, you’d love it!
